Biography: Denise Milledge

Greetings to all! My name is Denise and I am so grateful to have been guided to this wonderful site. I have already learned many valuable things by reading what others have posted on here. Currently I am a full time student attending school to become a Drug and Alcohol Counselor. I am not sure if that is where I will stay as I would LOVE to eventually become an Expressive Art Therapist. But for now, this gets my foot in the door. I am also a working artist, and a massage therapist. I love to paint, draw, read, collage (I also want to become a Soul Collage facilitator), create art dolls, make art quilts, sing karaoke and listen to music. I hope to bring something different to the Drug and Alcohol counseling field. I believe addiction is a disease of the soul/spirit and so I am interested in helping people that suffer with addictions, heal holistically...not just through talking (thinking) but through art and expression and feeling their feelings and not just talking about their feelings. I love Gestalt and Existential/Experiential types of therapies and I plan on continuing my education in counseling even while working as an ADC.
